Xiao Yao Wan
Function: Soothes the liver, dispels liver stasis, harmonizes liver and spleen, moves qi, invigorates blood, tonifies spleen qi, regulates menses.
Indication: Stagnation of liver qi with blood deficiency causing premenstrual tension or irregular menses.
Symptoms: irritability, anxiety, depression, headache, breast distention or water retention. dysmemorrhea due to liver qi stagnation, poor digestion, costal distention, poor appetite, loose stools, chronic hepatitis, menopause, dizziness and fatigue.
Ingridients
Chai Hu, Dan Gui, Bai Zhu, Bai Shao, FuLing, Sheng Jiang, Gan Cao, Bo He.
The chief herb Chai Fu relieves Liver stagnation. The deputies herbs Dang Gui and Bai Shao work together to nurish the blood and soften the edginess that results from Liver Qi stagnation. The assistant herbs Bai Zhu and Fu Ling strengthen the Spleen to promote its function of transformation and transportation. Gan Cao to tonifies and the Spleen and harmonize. The envoy herbs Sheng Jiang harmonize the Stomach and prevents the development of rebellious qi. Bo He enhances the Chai Fu function and disperse the heat due to that constraint.
